"There's no place I'd rather play than here," Schierholtz said. "It's where I grew up. It's home to me. I love the fans. I love the city. There's not one thing I can't say I love about this place, but I think I've come to the realization that maybe I'm not their guy. I'm not in the cards having a future here... A weeklong slump kept me back on the bench for a couple more months."As I wrote earlier, there isn't much difference between Nate and Angel Pagan, and he might be more valuable than Pagan because of his defense. What's more alarming though, is this Giants philosophy that a short slump justifies an extended benching for unproven players. At least Belt's not the only one being handled that way. Lol but they wouldn't trade Belt! Right?
From Baggs, on Brandon Belt
“I think it’s fair to say Brandon is a little lost right now,” Bochy said. “It’s timing and confidence again. I say this so many times: They’ll have their ups and downs, young players, and they have to learn to deal with it.Belt for Brett Meyers. You know it's true.
“I know he’s working hard in the cage. At the same time, you’ve got to get production from everywhere, especially first base. Our hope is he’ll get it going there and contribute to this offense.”
If not, Belt could find some fresh competition very soon via the trade market – if he isn’t traded himself. That’s not the craziest notion in the world, given his perceived value to other GMs and the Giants’ relative lack of blue-chip prospects.
